Dennis started performing around Edmonton from 1965 through 1969 with a number of bands playing the tunes of the day. Some of these bands included Why Us, Cat Squirrel and a highlight was recording sessions in Clovis, New Mexico with Colored Rain. (Engineered by Norman Petty who co-wrote most of the hits for Buddy Holly and David Gilmer and the Fireballs). From there he migrated to Saskatchewan where he played with The 49th Parallel and A Group Called Mudd , featuring vocalist Kenny Sheilds (Witness Incorporated, Streetheart). This band played shows with Lighthouse, Crowbar and King Biscuit Boy.
Upon returning to Edmonton Dennis continued playing with a variety of bands until March 1980 when he joined Tacoy Ryde. Dennis quickly became a integral part of the band and found a creative environment where he could write and collaborate on original compositions. He also took an active role in booking and promoting the band across the country. After 28 years with Tacoy Ryde he's still a committed and inspired force in the band.
He has performed and toured with Streetheart, Jato, Kenny Shields Band, the Hootin' Annies , Robert Walsh and 80's rockers Toronto. Currently he can be seen sitting in with a variety of acts including Tacoy Ryde side project Big Hank and a Fist Full of Blues. (Watch for their new all-original CD)
Dennis has a wealth of experience in the studio, having written and recorded everything from original soundtracks to jingles and songs.
Dennis is a perfectionist with a lot of soul. He can boogie-woogie or tickle the keys off any song as he weaves his great feel and touch into the fabric of the tune. He sings occasionally, and is always ready with a quick quip and some interaction with the audience which adds to the overall experience of seeing him play live.
